How to Achieve Beautiful Hair on a Budget

This post is about achieving beautiful hair on a budget.

Beautiful Hair
dear Lilah,

I hear you are looking to change up your hair routine but don’t know where to start. I totally get where you are coming from. The beauty industry and social media can make it seem like we need endless products in order to fix ourselves. Instead of feeling like you need to fix your hair, I’m here to show you how to enhance your natural beautiful hair with only the basics.

Everyone’s hair type is unique so what works for one person, might not work for you. That being said, our bodies have developed to be the way they are and will take care of itself for the most part. Buying and applying a plethora of products on your skin or scalp can do more damage than help.

Why You Don’t Need as Many Hair Care products As You Think

Washing your hair everyday IS NOT bad for your hair. This is a hair myth. So if you’re someone who washes their hair everyday or just every other day, you really don’t need a lot of products since you are maintaining your hair care on a regular basis.

Beautiful Hair style

Products you don’t have are hair masks, hair oils, hair detanglers, dry shampoo, dry conditioner, hair mousse, the list goes on. Think about your grandparents time period. Times were a lot more simple where people were just using the basics for their self care. Just a bar of soap for washing their face. Using the basic products for their hair. We live in a society that pushes to buy more and always needs the next best thing. Just because that product exists, does not mean it will do you any benefit and does not mean you actually need it.

A simple shampoo and conditioner are really the only products one needs. Shampoo helps remove oil and buildup, while conditioner moisturizes the hair to make it soft. Having just these two hair care products will simplify your shower routine, the space in your shower, and save you money.

There are so many unnecessary hair tools on the market that are insanely expensive. You can achieve beautiful and healthy hair with just a few basic styling tips and tools.

Cut Your Own Hair

Find a beautiful hair style you like, and cut your own hair at home to save money. There are many great hair tutorials online. Once you find one you like, it is pretty easy to follow. You’ll save about +$40 every time you cut your own hair.

Basic Hair Tools

A simple comb, hair dryer, and hair straightener is all you need…I promise. With just shampoo, conditioner, hair comb, hair dryer, and hair straightener, this will put you at only $50 – $100. I’ve a $100 hair dryer that lasted a year and a half. I’ve also had a $30 hair dryer that has lasted +3 years. You really don’t need anything fancy or expensive to achieve beautiful hair.

I only use a comb, because it doesn’t take up much space and creates less damage to the hair than a brush. A hair dryer isn’t necessary because you can always air dry your hair. However if you are like me and hate the feeling of wet hair, or are in a rush, a hair dryer is great to have.

Long Hair

My power tool to achieve gorgeous hair is a hair straightener. You can achieve so many looks with a hair straighter. You can straighten your hair if you have wavy or curly hair. You can have beautiful 90’s blow out hair. You can create tight or really loose hair curls. The options are endless with such a simple and affordable hair tool.

These are the best tips for achieving beautiful hair on a budget. Less is more, so don’t feel the need to waste money on products you don’t need. Using just the basics will leave you with endless possibilities for beautiful hair. I would love to hear your thoughts and if you have any recommendations yourself.
